Today saw the post office on Pockford Road open for the last time and while we know that the Post Office will continue in good hands, down the road at Robert Stores, the Parish Council wants to extend its thanks to Gill and Mark for the service they have provided this community for so many years.
The Chiddingfold Parish Council would like to thank Gill and Mark for all the support and service given to the village for nearly a quarter of a century. You have dealt with all of the general Post Office duties from pensions to child allowance, stamps, passports, letters, the list goes on. You also maintained an amazing range of stationery, greeting cards, sewing and knitting goods, children’s toys and books, not to mention the numerous jars of sweets that were invaded every afternoon after school by the village children; your patience with them was amazing. There was always a queue from 3:15pm onwards!! Your love of horticulture led to a great range of plants of all shapes and sizes outside the shop and once a year making a great display down on The Green at the Village Fete.
We also wish to thank you both for the huge contribution you made volunteering each year at the bonfire night, welcoming members of the public to the event, regardless of the weather conditions. You have both been pillars within the Chiddingfold community and we are very much glad to hear you will remain and continue to be a part of the village.
