Armistice Day – 11 November
Service at St. Mary’s Church. At 10.45am prayers will be said for all those who made the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of their country in the First and Second World Wars and in subsequent conflicts. We then move outside to the War Memorial to hear the bell toll eleven times at 11.00am followed by the National Two Minutes’ Silence. Afterwards, poppy wreaths will be laid at the eight war graves in St. Mary’s churchyard.
Remembrance Sunday – 14 November
Services for Remembrance on Sunday will take place at St. Mary’s Church at 8.00am and 10.00 am. The 10.00am Service of Remembrance will be followed by an Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial. We will be joined by service Veterans organisations, representatives of HM Forces, as well as representatives of uniformed youth organisations, the Parish Council, local churches and community organisations.
We request that the laying of wreaths at the War Memorial after the Two Minutes’ Silence is limited to invited representatives and that other tributes are laid on Armistice Day.
A road closure of the A283 Petworth Road will be in place 10.50am -11.10am.
